Responsible for directing and planning operations and technical infrastructure necessary to support business processes and applications systems to include networking, telecommunications, operations and Unix support.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
•Provides technical direction and advice to IT Leadership for long-range planning for new systems, hardware and tools. Acts as a technical consultant to create and implement enterprise solutions.
•Develops and articulates various goal-state scenarios (pros, cons, business value). Provides a roadmap to move towards the goal-state considering process rate, organizational change management, capital investments and technology trends.
•Evaluates and recommends support policies and procedures for LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewall, VPN, server system software and hardware systems, desktops, telecommunications and web hardware and connectivity.
•Makes procurement recommendations, manages key vendor relationships, provides project management of systems implementations, and maintains the infrastructure that supports the enterprise.
•Ensures that resources are aligned and maximized along enterprise objectives.
•Meets with users to determine quality of service, identify needs, and initiate service and operation improvements.
•Mentors team members and works with the team to upgrade technical proficiency.
Nature and Scope
•Problems are typically defined by higher level leadership. Problems are difficult. Solutions require analysis and investigation.
•Decides how to achieve planned results within an organization's plans, policies and guidelines. May set or change plans/goals within respective department or area.
•May manage department via multiple layers of managers OR directly supervise a staff of professionals IC's at the senior or technical advisor level.
•Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
•Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
•Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
•Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 9+ years experience in related field including several years in a management/supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details
•8+ years experience managing complex technical infrastructure.
•Experience evaluating, implementing and managing Cisco network appliances; wireless services; VLANs; and virtual networks.
•Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, systems management and networking on multiple computing platforms.
•Experience leading a large team of technologists.
